And very soon, Sheru will find shelter in a new house, thanks to a Mumbaikar who has come forward to adopt the white pooch.
"Now, he is out of danger and the wound is healing quite well. In fact, one woman has come forward to adopt him, which means he will not be released as a stray," says a visibly relieved Dr Kaginkar.
The hospital staff say that in another two weeks, Sheru will be fit enough to walk, jump or run.
As the doctors clean his wound, Sheru closes his eyes, probably because the wound still hurts. But he remains still, as he doesn't want to disrupt his treatment.
"From day one, he was kept in the surgical Intensive Care Unit. He is still in the surgical ICU as we don't want to take any chances. He is eating properly now and he can also walk. He was limping till a few days back, because he could not land his fore-limb where he suffered the gun shot injury, but now he is walking. It will take another 15 days for the wound to heal properly but otherwise, he has resumed all his normal activities."
