Will you vote for the Third Front?

June 07, 2007

It is another significant chapter in the history of coalition politics.

When heads of regional parties like AIADMK, Samajwadi Party, Asom Gana Parishad, Indian National Lok Dal, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam gathered at former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's residence on Wednesday, their agenda was more than just to arrive at a consensus on a presidential candidate.

The also gave birth to a new national front as an alternative to the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party the grouping known as Third Front.

Claiming that more parties were expected to join the front in the coming days, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa said: "Our front is open to all secular parties interested in nation building."

The leaders also resolved to firmly oppose Indo-US nuclear deal which, they felt was totally detrimental to India's interests.

What do you think about this latest development in Indian politics? Will you vote for the Third Front? Tell us.
