I am a victim of Australian conspiracy, said Dr Mohammad Haneef, who returned to India on Sunday after being absolved of terror charges in Brisbane.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore after meeting Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Haneef said he wanted to know why Australian Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews was holding on to his visa.

"I want to return to Australia and fight for my visa. I want the Immigration minister to come forward and make things clear," he said.

On whether he felt that the Australian government should apologise to him, Haneef, who was accompanied by his lawyer Peter Russo, said, "I don't expect an apology from the Australian government. I will be happy if they apologise to the people of my country. I am a true follower of Islam."
