Bangalore: Disks belonging to Khafeel seized July 09, 2007 13:47 IST Last Updated: July 09, 2007 14:26 IST
"We have seized disks of high capacity and other material that Khafeel left behind before leaving for the UK," Police Commissioner N Achutha Rao told reporters in Bangalore. He, however, refused to divulge the contents of the disks and the other material seized from Ahmed's residence. The disks are currently being examined by the investigating team to trace whether they were linked to the UK terror plot or any other terrorist network in India. Investigations are on to find out if there are any links between the UK terror plot and the attack at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 2005, he said. As of now no connection between the two has been established, he said. Following inputs from both the investigating teamsĀ in BangaloreĀ and other sources, police has begun enquiries and are quizzing family members, friends, associates of Khafeel, Sabeel and Haneef, the three UK terror plot suspects. "The enquiries are still in progress", he said. Asked whether the key accused, Bilal Abdullah had visited the country, the Police Commissioner said, "As of now, we have no information on his visit". To a query if the police had found if any Pakistanis visiting India had given Khafeel Ahmed's address as their local reference, Rao said, "We still have to verify that." Both the Central and state investigative agencies are working in close coordination to probe into the alleged links of the trio with terrorist outfits, he said. The investigating teams were trying to unearth if the trio had any network in India and Bangalore in particular, the Commissioner said.
