Leaders greet Vajpayee on his 84th birthday

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wishes Senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 84th birthday in New Delhi on TuesdayFormer Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday celebrated his 84th birthday.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] was among the first to reach the BJP patriarch's 7-Krishna Menon Marg residence to wish him.

Large number of his admirers poured in to greet him with flowers and sweets.

Senior party L K Advani had called on Vajpayee on Monday evening to wish him as he had to go to Gandhinagar in Gujarat to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi [Images] as Chief Minister.

This is Vajpayee's first birthday after the party anointed Advani as his successor.

Former BJP leader Madanlal Khurana and Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh also called on the veteran BJP leader to greet him on his birthday.

President Pratibha Patil [Images] also extended greetings to the former prime minister on his birthday.

An ADC of the President went to Vajpayee's residence today morning and handed over a bouquet of flowers and a letter of best wishes to the BJP patriarch.

The President is at present touring South India with her secretariat functioning from Rashtrapathi Nilayam at Hyderabad.
