Last week, it was time for one of those friendly exchanges of fire between the United Progressive Alliance and the Left Front.

This time the issue was the India-United States civilian nuclear deal, something the Manmohan Singh [Images] government had sealed after labouring for more than two years.

When India and the US released the complete text of the 123 Agreement, the Left was quick to pounce on the government. Left leaders started making noises about how the deal was unacceptable in its present form and how it would compromise India's foreign policy.

Prime Minister Singh, who decided enough was enough, told the Left that the deal was a done thing and there was no going back on it.

He even reportedly dared the Left to withdraw support.

The Left leaders have since maintained a stoic silence.

As the prime minister prepares to make a speech about the deal in the Parliament on Monday, what do you think the Left should do?
