Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani Wednesday broke his Bharat Suraksha Yatra and rushed to Mumbai following the deterioration in the health of party leader Pramod Mahajan. Advani, who was near Dausa in Rajasthan, broke his trip and drove to Jaipur from where he left for Mumbai accompanied by Chief Minister Vasundhararaje Scindia.

BJP President Rajnath Singh also cut short his trip to Doda in Jammu and left for Mumbai.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Sushma Swaraj and S S Ahulwalia too rushed to the Hinduja Hospital and went into a conclave with doctors this afternoon. They were later joined by party national spokesman Prakash Javadekar and state BJP president Nitin Gadkari. Gadkari, before joining the meeting, said Mahajan ''is very serious.''

BJP vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu also rushed to Mumbai, after receiving information about Mahajan's deteriorating health. Naidu said he was cancelling all his engagements in and around the city and his scheduled election campaign in the district.

Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, accompanied by his son and party executive president Uddhav Thackeray, again met Mahajan's family members.

Security around the hospital was also beefed up.
