J&K: Ultras kill 3 of family, Hizb leader killed

Militants on Wednesday shot dead three members of a family and injured a woman while security forces gunned down a top Hizbul Mujahideen ultra in Udhampur and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir [Images].

A group of militants barged into the house of one Gami Gujjar, a former special police officer, and tortured him in Sangaldhan area of Udhampur district early on Wednesday, official sources said in Jammu. The militants later opened fire at the inmates of the house killing Gami, his daughter and son, sources said.

Police have launched a combing operation in the area to track down the ultras, they said. Militants opened fire on the wife of a former SPO Gulam Nabi and injured her in village Saranda in gool belt of Udhampur district Tuesday night. Injured Rafiqa was hospitalised, sources said.

Liaqat Ali, a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit, was killed after a three-hour encounter in Pancha belt of Gandoh in Doda district.

One AK rifle, two magazines, one radio set, seven grenades and an improvised explosive device were recovered from him.
