Gujarat finance minister resigns
July 25, 2005 18:47 IST
Bharatiya Janata Party Gujarat unit President Vajubhai Vala on Monday resigned as the state finance minister, party sources said.
His resignation comes in the wake of a likely state cabinet expansion and seems to be in accordance with the 'one man, one post' policy.
Vala submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the sources said.
Vala, known to be close to Modi, had succeeded Rajendrasinh Rana as party president on May 13 and had been holding both the posts since then.
