Patiala Police search Daler's Mumbai flat October 15, 2003 14:52 IST A team of Patiala Police on Wednesday raided the rented premises of Indipop star Daler Mehndi in Mumbai in connection with the ongoing probe into alleged human trafficking. Sources said the team headed by Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Virk searched a flat at Adena building in Lokhandwala complex in northwest Mumbai where Mehndi had rented an apartment. He also withdrew his allegation that the Punjab Police had demanded a bribe to delete his name from the case and appealed that names of celebrities should not be dragged into criminal cases without adequate proof of their involvement. The police have denied the bribery allegation and registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Mehndi and are on the lookout for him. They have arrested his elder brother and co-accused Shamsher Mehndi and reportedly recovered documents implicating Daler in the human trafficking case.
