Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday held wide-ranging talks with China's new leaders, including Premier Wen Jiabao on bilateral ties and briefed them on the situation in South Asia.

during the weekend.

During Tuesday's meetings, Wen and other Chinese leaders told Musharraf that the new leadership of the Communist Party attaches great importance to Sino-Pakistani relations and will work with Pakistan to continuously push forward cooperation.

Speaking highly of the Sino-Pakistani bilateral relations, the Chinese leaders expressed appreciation for Islamabad's support to Beijing on major issues concerning China's sovereignty and interests, sources said.

Musharraf said the Pakistani people treasured the traditional friendship with the Chinese people and that Islamabad will make concerted efforts with China to continuously promote the overall development of bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Musharraf said Pakistan is firmly opposed to terrorism and went on to reiterate his pledge not to allow anybody to use the territory of Pakistan to carry out any form of anti-China activities.
