Man jailed for forging PM's signature

A Central Bureau of Investigation court in Patna, Bihar, on Tuesday sentenced to one year in jail a man who forged Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's signature.

Lat year, the CBI had filed three cases against Vijay Kumar Mandal, a resident of Ramdhiri on Munger district, for forgery.

He had sent one letter in the name of the prime minister to the State Bank of India, Bhagalpur, recommending the appointment of a girl against the vacancy for the post of a peon.

In another letter to the ordnance factory in Jabalpur, he recommended the name of a boy for the post of a fireman.

In the third case, a letter was written to the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, recommending a boy for appointment for the post of assistant executive secretary.
