One Border Security Force officer was killed and two others seriously injured in an explosion near Amargrah Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district late on Wednesday afternoon.

Sub Inspector Madan Lal died on-the-spot when the vehicle he was traveling in along with his colleagues hit an improvised explosive device (IED).

Two BSF soldiers who were injured in the explosion were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a report from Karnah in northern Kupwara district said Pakistani troops on Wednesday resorted to heavy shelling in the area.
