Medical college principal arrested in Kidney racket

January 12, 2003 02:00 IST

The police on Saturday arrested the principal of the Amritsar Government Medical College and chairman of the Kidney Transplant Committee, Dr O P Mahajan, in connection with a kidney racket.

Renowned transplant surgeon Dr P K Sareen was also arrested in this connection.

Superintendent of Police Kanwan Vijay Partap Singh said Mahajan has been arrested for allegedly clearing the files of donors who are not related to the recipient.

These persons are said to have donated their kidney for monetary considerations, Singh said.
