Cold wave forces closure of schools in Delhi

January 09, 2003 05:26 IST

The Delhi government on Monday ordered closure of all schools till January 13 in view of the prevailing unprecedented cold wave conditions in the capital.

The order will not affect students taking pre-board examinations of standards 10 and 12. Their exams will be held as per schedule, Education Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said.

The schools will reopen on January 14, Chauhan said.

The academic loss caused by this unscheduled closure would be compensated by organising extra classes on holidays as well as working days as per requirement, he said.

Delhi along with the entire North India has been witnessing intense cold weather over the past week with the mercury dipping to unprecedented levels.
