Adjournment motion on Ayodhya issue on Tuesday

February 17, 2003 21:41 IST

The opposition plans to bring an adjournment motion on the Ayodhya issue in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday to pin the government on its move to seek vacation of the Supreme Court stay order on the ban on religious activities in the acquired land.

A notice of adjournment will also be given on the situation in Uttar Pradesh, and it will be left to Speaker Manohar Joshi to decide which one to take up.

Several allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party will be in a piquant situation when the motion on the Ayodhya issue is put to vote, opposition leaders feel.

Sources said the Rajya Sabha is expected to discuss the divestment issue on Tuesday while both Houses are likely to deliberate on the Iraq situation a day after.
