At least five persons were killed and ten injured on Tuesday morning in a powerful mine blast in Pulwama district in south Kashmir.

The improvised explosive device (IED) went off while cattle was being taken for grazing at Gulshanpora near Tral, 40km from Srinagar, police said.

The bodies were taken to the police station at Tral. A 70-year-old man is believed to be among the victims.

The injured have been taken to the Tral hospital and some of the critically wounded persons are being shifted to Srinagar.

No one has yet admitted responsibility for the blast.
