Landmine blast in Bihar; 9 cops killed

At least nine policemen were killed and two seriously injured in a landmine blast triggered by the banned Maoist Communist Centre in Nawada district in Bihar on Tuesday, police said.

Nawada Superintendent of Police Bacchu Singh Meena told rediff.com that the cops, who were in a jeep, were going to enforce order in a fair when the blast took place near Madhavpur village.

There of the cops were identified as Govindpur police station in-charge Sailesh Kumar Ram, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dwarka Prasad Yadav and driver of the jeep Anil Kumar Yadav.

The rest were from the Bihar Military Police.
