Woman shot dead in J&K village

A woman was shot dead and her husband injured by unidentified gunmen in a village in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said in Jammu on Sunday. The gunmen barged into the house of one Mohammad Sharief in Ucchat village on Saturday night and opened fire killing his wife, who was in the family way, and injured him, they said. The incident led to protests with people taking to the streets alleging that the woman had been killed by security forces and demanded action against them.
