Grenade blast in Pulwama, 16 hurt

At least 16 people, including two policemen, were injured in a grenade explosion triggered by militants at a crowded market in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Wednesday.

Militants hurled the grenades towards a police party at Shopian township, 52 kms from Sringar, around 1340 IST causing splinter injuries to two policemen and 14 pedestrians, they said.

The injured have been shifted to hospital where the condition of six is said to be serious.

This was the second grenade attack by militants at crowded places in south Kashmir within 24 hours.

A civilian died and 15 others injured in a grenade explosion at Mattan chowk in Anantnag district on Tuesday evening.
