Tejpal to appear before Army's court of inquiry

The court of inquiry of the Indian Army probing the alleged corruption in defence deals exposed in Tehelka tapes has requested the news portal's Managing Director Tarun Tejpal to appear before it.

Tejpal has accepted the request, army sources said.

The three-member court of inquiry headed by Lt Gen S K Jain began its proceedings on Monday with the request to the portal to make available the controversial tapes to it.

As the probe is constituted under the Army Act, it does not have powers to summon civilians.
