Advani reviews border situation with BSF brass

A Correspondent in New Delhi

Home Minister L K Advani on Thursday held a high-level meeting between top officials of the Border Security Force and his ministry, to review the situation on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh was also being briefed about the developments, sources in the ministry said.

The matter has already been taken up at the diplomatic level with Bangladesh, and meetings have been held between senior commandants of the Bangladesh Rifles and the BSF. The director general of the BSF, Gurbachan Jagat, is constantly reviewing the situation, and sources said Jagat may fly down to the border if the need arose.
