Sena ministers take back resignation

E-Mail this report to a friend

Syed Firdaus Ashraf in Bombay

Following the court setting aside the case against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, the three Union ministers who had quit - Manohar Joshi, Suresh Prabhu and Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil - have decided to take back their resignations.

At a press conference in Bombay soon after the court's ruling, Joshi and Prabhu said they were happy with the court's decision, and would be resuming work from Wednesday.

They also clarified that their intention in putting in their papers was not to embarrass the central government or in anyway weaken it, but to express solidarity with their party chief.
