Person Nominated : Lt. Gen J.S. Arora

Reasons : I am myself a man of few words and may not be able to write 100 words for the person I have nominated but I think actions are more powerful then the words as is true for Lt. Gen J.S. Arora. I read the entire script on the chat session with Lt. Gen. Arora. His honest responses to various questions and his commitment to his country "India" shows the pride and truly speaks of him as an Officer and a Gentleman. It's high time that we show our respect and appreciation to the people who are the true heros for the country and the generations to come. It will truly be a commemmorative for the likes of "Bhagat Singh" who laid their lives for the sake of their country.

Person Nominated : T. N. Seshan

Reasons : A strong personality, he has made the CEC's postition, one of the most feared in the country. No more will it be a mere puppet in the hands of the government. His term may have been controversial, no doubt, but the awareness he spread among the people, and, more importantly, fear among the politicians will be hard to emulate and difficult to forget.

His aggressive attitude, and defiant statements kept him in the news, maybe a wee bit more than necessary, but there is no doubt about the fact that India, and indeed the world too, witnessed one of the best and the biggest elections ever. All in a free a nd fair manner. No more doubts about our elected representatives using underhand dealings to win. But the feather in his cap was the peaceful conduct of the elections in Kashmir.

Notwithstanding political pressures, and terrorist threats (not necessarily in that order), he gave us the best elections till date, and also showed the world the true nature of India's democracy. May India be blessed with a few more Seshans.

Reasons : This year is rememberd by all politician with a sense of relief. During his period as CEC, India realised the power of a burocrate. the highpitch electionering and thereby concealing all their irregularities were the practice, which are now history. The accountability on the expenses are the first step in cleaning up the corruption. His successors has the moral obligation to uphold all the corrective actions to continue. He brought faith and confidence over our electrol system.
