'Infosys BPO has a long way to go'

August 31, 2007
Infosys BPO chief Amitabh Chaudhry does not mince his words. Just as he does not hesitate to mention that his company has made considerable progress recently, he doesn't think twice to state that the BPO wing of the IT major still has miles to go to achieve global recognition.

Ask him where does he see Infosys BPO five years hence and pat comes the reply: "We want to be one of the respected BPOs of the world and for that we need to get greater recognition globally, our products need to have greater acceptance across the world, our stakeholders must find in us maximum value, reliability and transparency. In terms of size, scale, diversification and variety, we still have a long way to go. However, going by our track record for the past five years (we are registering 60 to 70 per cent growth per annum), I have every right to be optimistic."

What motivates youngsters to join Infosys BPO?

"They see a huge opportunity in an organisation like ours. The BPO industry as a whole is growing enormously. As for Infosys, it has a varied customer-base which offers its young employees huge scope for growth. For anyone dreaming of a great career in the BPO industry would definitely look at Infosys BPO as the best place to cull experience and expertise. Infosys is a great brand whose credibility cannot be questioned."
