Mission 2007: Technology for rural India

What changed her life was the Computer Based Functional Literacy project of Tata Consultancy Services.

The CBFL program started by the TCS in eight Indian languages in 2000 makes an illiterate literate in just 40 hours.

Today, CBFL, functioning in 1400 centres across India, has created 90,000 literates, TCS says.

In Tamil Nadu alone, 18,000 illiterates have been made literate.
