November 06, 2003 18:11 IST

Ashok Leyland would fully exploit the boom in trade and industrial production and launch 20 new products in all categories of vehicles -- from light trucks to tractors -- in the near future, the company's executive director (marketing), Arun Pande, said on Thursday.

Participating in a function in Madurai to launch Ecomet', a new Light Commercial Vehicle, he said, "There can be no better time to launch a range of new products than this... There is an industrial and stock market boom and the GDP is growing."

The Ecomet truckline will be followed by buses of 25, 39 and 35 seater configurations, which would meet different commercial, industrial and institutional needs, he said.

Pande said 'Ecomet' had been launched after a detailed survey and the priorities listed by customers, including 'operating economics', special fuel economics, driver comfort, reliability, maintenance, good service and spare parts backup.
