Cartoon Network to remain pay channel

June 11, 2003 19:20 IST

Turner Broadcasting System said on Wednesday that its Cartoon Network channel would remain pay after the introduction of conditional access system from next month.

"We have decided to keep Cartoon Network a pay channel even after CAS is put in place," Turner International India managing director, Anshuman Misra said while announcing the launch of an animated series on folklore legend Tenali Raman.

Asked whether Cartoon Network's viewership would dip if it chose to remain a pay channel, he said, "Initially we may lose a bit of viewership during the transition period but we are confident that we will regain it once everything settles down."
