Sexual harassment case may impact performance: Infosys CFO

Fakir Chand in Bangalore | January 10, 2003 17:44 IST

Software major Infosys Technologies reiterated on Friday that a case of sexual harassment filed against a former company executive by an ex-employee in the US could adversely impact its financial performance.

Asked about the case filed by Reka Maximovitch, the company's chief financial officer T V Mohandas Pai told reporters in Bangalore that mediation efforts have not succeeded and the trial is in progress.

"At this point of time, we cannot say how long the lawsuit will take to conclude. The arguments are yet to get over. As the case is sub-judice, we will not be able guess the possible time frame for its outcome," Pai added.

Pai, however, said the lawsuit was unlikely to have any impact on the company's fourth quarter performance.

It may be recalled that former employee Reka Maxmovitch, who was working as an executive to Phaneesh Murthy in the company's US headquarters at Fremont, California, filed the lawsuit against the latter as well as the company, alleging sexual harassment and wrongful termination of her employment by the company early last year.

In the meantime, Phaneesh, who resigned from Infosys as its director and its worldwide marketing head in July last, went on to set up a start-up, Primentor, along with his wife in the US last month, to provide consulting and services to global technology companies in software development and business process outsourcing areas.
