Maruti hikes prices by up to 2%

January 08, 2003 18:49 IST

Auto major Maruti Udyog Ltd announced on Wednesday a hike in prices of all models of its vehicles except the up-segment Baleno and Versa.

The hike ranges from 0.33 per cent to 1.7 per cent, a Maruti press release said.

The release said the prices have been hiked because of the increase in input costs in recent months.

Only part of this increase in input costs was being passed on to the consumers through Wednesday's hike in prices in various models of cars.

The release said Maruti would continue to offer first year insurance for a token premium of Rs 1 to buyers of Omni, Zen, Alto, Wagon-R and Esteem up to February 28, 2003 this year.

The new car customers would also be eligible for hefty cash prices and hundreds of free gifts till February 28, this year as part of the company's mega-campaign to promote its sales, the release said.
