Leather, chemicals to be dereserved from SSI

February 28, 2003 17:21 IST

Seventy-five items including leather, chemicals, plastic and paper products are to be dereserved from the Small Scale Industry sector, Finance Minister Jaswant Singh said on Friday while presenting the Union Budget 2003-04.

The Budget proposed withdrawal of SSI reservation from items of laboratory chemicals and reagents, leather products and chemical products.

The government had last year announced the dereservation of over 50 items.

To help further investment in the SSI sector, the government would examine the question of a limited partnership act.
