Reliance's FCC unit to shut for maintenance

April 24, 2003 17:18 IST

Reliance Industries's Jamnagar refinery will, for the first time since its commissioning in July 1999, take a scheduled shutdown of FCC Unit, which produces LPG, petrol and kerosene, towards the year end.

"Our refinery was configured for a planned maintenance shutdown of FCC Unit after four-years of operation. The cycle is completing and we plan to shut down the FCC Unit by the year end," P Raghavendran, president (refinery business), Reliance Industries Ltd, told PTI in New Delhi.

The firm, which is the country's largest producer of LPG, was forced to shut down its FCC Unit in January due to operational snag. Due to this, the state-owned oil companies had to import LPG to meet domestic requirement.

The FCC Unit of the refinery, which produces 2.4 million tonnes of LPG annually, will be down for about a month for maintenance and overhaul.
