No pattern in moves against IT men: Sinha

April 01, 2003 21:18 IST

External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha on Tuesday said he did not see any pattern in the actions against Indian IT professionals in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Netherlands but felt there was "resistance" abroad to the new found strength of India in this sector.

"I don't see a pattern. What happened in Indonesia is related to one company. In Malaysia, it was reaction of over-enthusiastic policemen. What happened in Netherlands was not connected to these two," he told reporters.

He was asked about the arrest of i-flex Solutions' Dutch subsidiary chief executive Senthil Kumar in London and 14 other colleagues in Netherlands.

"We have take it up with the Government of Netherlands and told them in clear terms that it is not acceptable," he said.

Asked why Indian IT professionals were being specially targeted, he said "there seems to be a resistance in the rest of the world to this new found strength of India. It will have to be overcome."

All these actions were causing concern, he said.

Sinha said the bail application of Kumar was coming up for hearing in London on Wednesday.
