Lukewarm baths and regular hydration

December 9, 2008
  • Do not shower with very hot water as it strips moisture from the skin. Lukewarm is best. For very dry skin you can add a bath emollient (like Oilatum), say half a capful to half a bucket of water for the last rinse.

  • Drink plenty of water to internally hydrate yourself. You'll have to make a conscious effort as thirst levels are physiologically low in winters.

  • A traditional dryness-busting remedy is to soak a cup of sesame seeds (til) in warm milk for a couple of hours and grind to a coarse paste with a little rosewater. Apply over your body for a few minutes and scrub off.
