Employee-friendly initiatives at Microsoft India

On August 12, 2008 Microsoft India Development Centre, MSIDC, completed 10 years of its operations in India. On the sidelines of Celebrating 10 years of Innovating from India Srini Koppolu, corporate vice president and managing director, MSIDC, and S Somasegar, senior vice president, developer division, Microsoft spoke exclusively with rediff.com on various employee-friendly initiatives at MSIDC.

Some of the employee friendly initiatives they have at MSIDC include:
Flexible work hours
Meritocratic approach
Open-door approach ("Hierarchies don't matter if an employee has a great idea s/he can walk to anybody, have a conversation and work on converting those ideas into reality," says Somasegar)
ESOPs and bonus for employees
Pick ups and drops in AC buses, special security for women employees who work late hours, and hiring diverse set of employees
No gender-based discrimination ("Your passion for computer science and software is what matters," according to Somasegar)
Encouraging employees' spirit of giving back to the community
