India drop to third placeM J Manohar Rao, Srinivas Bhogle
England (55.95) have edged ahead of India (54.11) to regain the second place in the Rediff Test Rankings.
This came about because India could only draw its home series against South Africa (India had won 1-0 at home last time), while England defeated New Zealand 2-1 in an away series (England had drawn their last away series in New Zealand).
South Africa (51.88) are climbing strongly in the last 12 months, but suffered a setback by losing in Kanpur; their record against leaders Australia too is poorer than England's and India's record.
By drawing their series away in the West Indies, Sri Lanka (41.57) have inched past Pakistan (40.38) to gain the fifth position.
The latest Rediff Test Rankings appear in Table A.
