Anil Kumble [Images] has been India's best bowler for nearly two decades now and has single-handedly won many matches for the country.

On Thursday, he scaled yet another milestone when he became the first Indian bowler to take 600 Test wickets.

He claimed the wicket of Andrew Symonds [Images] on day two of the third Test against Australia in Perth. Playing in his 124th Test, the 37-year-old became the third bowler overall to complete the feat joining Shane Warne [Images] and Muttiah Muralitharan.

Kumble, starting the third Test on 599 wickets, got the wicket of Symonds for 62 caught by Rahul Dravid [Images] in the slips in the post-tea session.

Sri Lanka's [Images] Muralitharan leads the way with a haul of 723 wickets in 118 Tests, while Warne retired last year claiming 708 wickets in 145 Tests.

The Indian captain punched the air in delight before holding up the ball to the crowd, who gave him a loud cheer in recognition of the feat.

Congratulate the Indian captain on this unique feat!
