Fast bowlers Dale Steyn and Makhaya Ntini [Images] shared six wickets to earn the advantage for South Africa on the first day of the second Test against West Indies [Images] on Wednesday. West Indies, who won the toss and chose to bat despite cloudy overhead conditions, were 240 for eight at stumps.
Steyn took 4-60 and Ntini claimed 2-63 to undo much of what Marlon Samuels and Shivnarine Chanderpaul [Images] accomplished in a stand of 106 after West Indies had slumped to 77 for 3 before lunch.
Samuels scored 51, and Chanderpaul was unbeaten on 64 at the close. West Indies won the first Test by 128 runs in Port Elizabeth.
