New-look Delhi for Ranji ODIs

January 05, 2005 21:46 IST

Delhi today made wholesome changes to its squad as the selectors omitted opener Aakash Chopra and experienced spinners Sarandeep Singh and Rahul Sanghvi for the Ranji Trophy one-day cricket tournament (North Zone) to be played at Dharmasala in Himachal Pradesh.

The former champions, who failed to qualify for the knock-out stage of the longer version of the Ranji Trophy championship last week, will be led by Ajay Jadeja, Delhi and District Cricket Association Sports Secretary Sunil Dev said in a release.

While wicket-keeper batsman Vijay Dahiya has opted out of the squad for personal reasons, left-arm paceman Kunal Lal could also not find a place in the 15.

Delhi open their campaign against Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

Squad: Ajay Jadeja (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan, Mithun Manhas, Rajat Bhatia, Varun Kumar, Amit Bhandari, Ashish Nehra, Kuldeep Rawat, Sanjay Gill, Yogesh Sachdeva, Abhinav Bali, Rajan Gupta, Vivek Khurana, Chetnya Nandi.

Coach: Madan lal; Assistant Coach: M S Jaggi.
