Leg-spinner Anil Kumble flew back to India on Thursday for a "short break" and would re-join his team mates ahead of the second Test starting in Lahore on April 5.

"Kumble has been allowed to take a short break to go home," Media manager Amrit Mathur said but did not divulge the reason for it.

"He has left for home along with captain Sourav Ganguly and will be joining the team back in Lahore on April 3," he added.

The ace leg-spinner claimed six wickets in Pakistan's second innings to lead India's to a historic victory in the first Test in Multan on Thursday.
