As much as some people would like to regard cricket as nothing more than a brute contest between two teams, the game also has its gentlemanly side. And prime among the cricketing knights of this world is Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, a player who smites his opponents without mercy but with honour.

His brutal, though honest, methods on the field are in complete contrast to his genial nature off it. Opponents seem awe-struck when they speak about his deeds. In an Australian team widely regarded as the best ever, his role is vital.
