NCR enters enterprise computing market

NCR Corporation has launched its open, high-availability enterprise computing systems into the Indian enterprise computing market.

At an event to mark the launch, the managing director of the Bangalore-based NCR Corporation, India, Rajen Kaul, commented that "In less than 12 months NCR India has established itself as the leading provider of self-service and item processing solutions to the Indian banking industry."

With worldwide market share of 34 per cent in open, high-availability systems and 50.5 per cent in shipments of scaleable Data Warehousing solutions (1996 IDC figures), NCR leads in delivering commercial, open-enterprise computing systems which integrate transaction-processing and decision support, he said.

According to the manager, computer group, NCR, South East Asia, Srikant Rao, "NCR India can now deliver mainframe-class high-availability beyond apparent limits on a completely open-platform to our business customers in India. This will ensure 24-hour availability."
