Portstation modules allow users to mix and match connectivity technologies and create a customised Portstation system.

Modules provide users with a variety of networking and communications technologies including 10 MBPS Ethernet, 56 KBPS modem, digital subscriber line, cable modem, ISDN and home phone line networking as well as attach a wide range of devices, including printers, digital cameras, mice and keyboards, a company statement claimed.

The company also announced that it would enter the broadband and home networking markets with the new, modular Portstation system designed for the growing number of mobile computer users in small and home offices.

The Portstation system is Xircom's initial platform for introducing these new technologies and delivering customisable connectivity solutions to the small office / home office market, the release added.
