Canon aims at India
Canon India General Manager Marketing and Sales) Ravi Bhatia has told reporters that the company set up 17 offices and 85 business affiliates throughout the country during the last two years.

Canon India and its affiliates directly employ over 1,000 people, while its channel partners employ an equal number for marketing and servicing products.

He said Canon set up a software development centre and digital technology lab with an investment of $2 million. The software development centre is one of the six such cutting edge technology centres established by Canon globally.

The software development would be done in three key areas. The centre would develop embedded software that drives Canon's high technology imaging hardware, interface and connectivity software and software focussed on enhancing functionality and value of production.

The centre is targeting software export of $3 million in its first year of operation, he added.

He said the company has also appointed dealers and full-fledged service centres in district headquarters throughout Kerala over the past one year and would be marketing over 40 productions, including copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines and multi-functional peripherals.
