APC to manufacture UPS units in Bangalore

Email this story to a friend. American Power Conversion, a worldwide power protection and management solutions company, today announced that it would be setting up a full-fledged facility to manufacture its products in India.

"The manufacturing facility will come up in Bangalore,'' APC (India) Private Limited Country General Manager Rishipal Sethi said in New Delhi at a media briefing.

While Sethi declined to disclose the investment details for the new facility, he said it would be up and running in the next few months.

At present, APC is catering to the growing the Indian market from its facility in the Philippines.

The rationale behind setting up a manufacturing base is the high rate of import duty which is about 60 per cent, Sethi said.

The company today launched a new uninterruptible power supply product. ''Regions where power problems are common occurrences require unique power protection features to help ensure uninterrupted computer availability,'' Sethi said.
