PCL's training business is put in fast lanePentafour Communications Limited's training centre network franchised under the brand name 'Pentasoft' is to be expanded to 120 fully operational units in the country by 2000. Besides, 11 international training centres will also be set up.
PCL Chairman V Chandrasekharan has told reporters that over 21 IBM authorised 'e-business' training centres of PCL would be fully operational soon.
PCL, which has tie-ups with IBM, Sybase, Microsoft, Synon, SSA and Parametric Technology, would also be launching a distance education programme.
He said it is estimated that about 50,000 to 60,000 specialists in Internet and Web-enabled applications would be required worldwide by the 2000.
With the world's second largest pool of scientific labour force that has knowledge of English too, India is advantageously placed to exploit the potential.

Memorandum with Anna University
The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the university in Madras to set up an 'AU-PCL Advanced Computing Centre' at the School of Computer Science and Engineering.
Anna University Vice-Chancellor A Kalanidhi and PCL's Chandrasekharan said the centre that would be digitally linked to Pentafour Communications, would offer courses and high-end training in mainframe, client-server, Web and networking technologies.
Chandrasekharan said the course streams of three months durations included database, case tools, CAD, CAM, GIS, process control and multimedia.
The 1,000 students, who would be admitted into these courses, would also gain access and training to Internet and Web based learners.
The students and trainers could also gain placements in Pentafour's establishments and business partners like IBM, Microsoft, Synon and SSA.
