SatyamOnline has also announced reduced prices for its existing products. However, these are still significantly higher than their biggest competitor, the government owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited.

SatyamOnline's 100-hour account that was priced at Rs 3,900 will now be available at Rs 3,300 and this includes the one-time registration fee too.

Discover500, which was priced at Rs 9,900, will now be available at Rs 8900 and this tag includes the one-time registration fee too.

The renewal rates have also been revised.

Discover100 can be renewed at Rs 2,600, Discover250 at Rs 5,600 and Discover500 at Rs 8,400.

The complete range will be available through SatyamOnline's nation-wide network of retail outlets where the products are available off-the-shelf and through dedicated sales partners who could deliver it at the doorstep.

According to Pradeep Lakshmanan, vice-president, Satyam Infoway, "The introduction of Discovery250 is our response to customer request to have a medium-length version that will give more flexibility for him to exercise his option to purchase a SatyamOnline Internet connection. This will now provide him an opportunity to get all the value added benefits that we offer from a range of his choice."

Commenting on the price reduction of the existing product offerings, he said "We believe in offering the best of our service to our customers. Any benefit that we accrue will definitely be passed on to our customers. In this case we have done just that by passing on the benefits of the TRAI and DoT recommendations to him, in the form of reduced prices."
