Based on the HP-Baan platform, the project's hardware, integration and support expertise would be provided by HCL Infosystems.

The Godrej & Boyce ERP project is the largest site in Asia-Pacific for an HP-Baan three-tier client-server architecture.

A leading Indian manufacturer of products ranging from precision equipment, office equipment, furniture and heavy engineering among others, Godrej & Boyce, has initiated an ERP implementation project with an aim to integrate business processes across its nine divisions.

To be implemented in two phases, the project would encompass 500 concurrent users at Vikhroli and the company's two branch offices in Delhi and Calcutta and a manufacturing set-up at Secunderabad in the first phase.

The second phase would extend the project scope to an additional 26 branches across the country.

Sharad Talwar, general manager, marketing, HCL Infosystems, said in a company statement "Our vast experience in ERP implementation for a prestigious customer base along with the presence of 800 specially trained systems support members across 143 locations were critical factors in our selection for this project. We are indeed proud to partner with Godrej in the implementation of this truly superior tool for streamlining business practices. With its diverse business interests, the ERP implementation will equip Godrej with best-in-class practices towards achieving its business goals."

At present, Godrej's information applications such as manufacturing, payrolls, sales, and finance operate on 40 HP 9000 UNIX client/server systems. The project extends Baan's long-standing partnership with HP in installing some of the world's largest and most prestigious ERP solutions.

In India, HCL is the exclusive distribution and support partner for HP's RISC/UNIX based business servers and workstations.

In the area of enterprise and manufacturing resource planning (ERP/MRP), HCL Infosystems has the largest installed base of over 50 customers in the country. These sites are in operation with various ERP software packages like SAP, MFG*Pro, BPCS, etc.
