Subhas Chandra Bose site launched

Email this story to a friend. The first-ever Web site with Bengali text on Subhas Chandra Bose has been launched. The site pays tribute to the Indian National Army leader on his birth centenary.

"All you have to do is to download a Bengali font and install it on your PC once and the pages can be viewed in Bengali," the site designers point out.

Leveraging the interactivity of the Net, the site can also be read in English.

The highlight of the site is the range of photographs it displays. The picture collection spans all historical moments in the life of the leader from the days when he received an Italian passport and escaped from Kabul to Berlin; the INA flag-hoisting to Bose wearing the Congress cap and reclining in a chair at the then Elgin Road residence in Calcutta.
