He said Cadence would fund the creation of infrastructure facilities as well as the data link between Cadence and IIT, Kanpur.

It would also fund all the operational costs associated with the running of the centres and the investment is expected to be around Rs 3 million per annum.

Ahuja said the days of one electronic industry developing new items and designs from the conceptual stage to design and marketing are gone and "we want to use the best talents available at IIT Kanpur". Cadence is also in touch with the other IITs in the country and when they come forward, it would consider their offers too.

IIT, Kanpur, Director Professor K A Padmanabhan, who was also present, said a team would be assigned for this purpose and would benefit both the students of IIT, Kanpur, and Cadence.
